REMINDERS

 Hello Parents!

I hope you are having a good week so far! 

Please do not send your child to school if they are sick, even with mild symptoms of a cold.  We are doing our best as a school community to limit transmission of any viruses or sicknesses.   

 Reminders for the Week

• Parent-Teacher Conferences Thursday and Friday 
• No School Friday
• Taste Test Wednesday/Thursday afternoon
• Book Fair - Wednesday morning - check it out, Thursday morning, bring money to purchase books
• Food Drive - we are collecting non-perishable food for the Food Bank.  You can send in donations at any time! 

 Friday Wrap Up 

Reminders:

• Please book a parent-teacher conference if you have not already.  There are several openings on Friday morning.  
• Fun Lunch - November 24
• No School Friday November 26 due to Parent-Teacher Conferences 
• Hip-Hop Residency - look for video link to be sent out shortly from the school 

We had a special zoom meeting story time with a host from CBC Kids, Tony!  - We played a funny game and read us "Paddington the Magician" 

English Language Arts

• Focus on explicit practice and learning of weekly sight words 
• Picture prompts and sentence starters anchor chart - we are going to be starting simple story writing 

Math 

• Representing double digit numbers multiple ways
• Open-ended word problems 
• Addition with sums up to 10, bridging into sums up to 20 

Science

• Review of our five senses
• Introduction to animal senses and how animals change their appearance/prepare for seasonal changes

Social 

• Rights and Responsibilities - introduction - what are my rights as a child? What are my responsibilities

 Monday November 14 Reminders

• Have you booked a Parent-Teacher Conference yet? 
• Winter Gear - please ensure all of your students items are labelled with their name if possible! 
• Virtual School Meeting - Wednesday November 17 @ 6:30pm
• Fun Lunch orders due by November 20
• We need Casino Volunteers - please see Mrs. Taylor's email 
• Hip Hop Residency this week - wear casual clothes on Friday for special videotaping! 
• On Wednesday, we will have a virtual Zoom meeting with a host from CBC Kids, Janaye! She will read us a story!

Reminders:

• We only have school Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week 
• Parent-Teacher Conferences will be November 25/26 - booking information coming soon 
• Label if possible all hats/gloves/outdoor gear with your child's name in case they are misplaced or left outside 
• Please ensure you send at least two (2) fresh clean masks in your childs backpack each day. 
• Homework - will be posted this weekend and due to the upcoming short school week, it will be due the following Friday, November 19. 

This Week... We Are Learning About...

• Zones of Regulation - green, red, blue, yellow - ask me about this ! My goal is to be in the green zone during classroom learning time! Yellow zone is a great zone for gym and recess! 
• Math
• patterning, extending a pattern, making our own pattern with 2-4 elements, what is a pattern core, number bonds for 6, 7, 8
• Solving beginner addition word problems 
• Skip counting by 5s and 10s 
• Social
• What groups do I belong to? (cultural, religious, extra-curricular/sports, family, etc)
• Where is my family from? 
• English Language Arts 
• Practicing writing and reading our weekly sight words 
• Engaging in Literacy Centers
• Using picture prompts to write at least 3 sentences independently. 
• Remembrance Day reflections and class discussions
