AHS Health Daily Checklist

• Wednesday is Orange Shirt Day (Casual Day) 
  
• Thursday there is NO SCHOOL for Day for Truth & Reconciliation

 Week Wrap-Up!

• Read Book, "I Promise" by LeBron James and made our own promises.  Examples were: 
• I promise to be brave
• I promise to help others
• I promise to respect my elders
• I promise to be a good friend
• I promise to be strong
• I promise to be a leaner
• I promise to be helpful
• I promise to be joyful
• I promise to help animals 
• Representing numbers: we worked through 5, 6, and 7.  We used various ways to show this number, including writing the numeral, writing the word, drawing fingers, tally marks, ten frames, drawing objects and dice.  
• Chunk of the week was -an words and we worked on printing practice - specifically the letters A B C D 
• Rainbow Writing: Students learned about ROY G BIV order and challenged themselves to fill in patterned sentences following this model: 
• A ____ is red.  A ____ is ______. 
• A ____ is orange.  A ____ is ____.
• A ___ is yellow.  A ____ is _____. 
• A ____ is green.  A ____ is ____. 
• A ____ is blue.  A ____ is ____. 
• A ____ is indigo.  A _____ is ____. 
• A ____ is violet.  A ___ is ____. 
• Ask your child what Service Role they signed up to fulfill for our classroom.  Examples include: organizing pencil crayons, helping tidy our coat nook and outdoor shoes, organizing our books, pushing in chairs and many more! 
• Terry Fox Run - We had a fabulous run on Thursday! Students also had the special opportunity to learn about Ms. Boettcher's daughter Aria, who is a cancer survivor! 

Reminders for Next Week:

• Picture Day is Monday Sept 27  - please wear your formal uniforms
• No School on Sept 30 - Day for Truth and Reconciliation 
• Homework - please ensure your child is completing the homework, including daily home reading through Raz Kids and please only complete the assigned tasks on Mathletics.  S

Monday September 20 Update

• Thursday is FUN LUNCH and our TERRY FOX RUN.  This is not a casual day.  We will be going out to run/walk, rain or shine, so please dress your child appropriately. 
• If you are able to donate, we are collecting Toonies for Terry in support for cancer research.  Please send a toonie with your child this week.
• Homework books were sent home today.  A new homework assignment was posted on Sunday.  Homework is due Thursday, September 23.   Please read through the instructions carefully and email me if you have questions. 
• PD Day on Friday, September 24, so there is NO SCHOOL.  

Toonies for Terry

 On Thursday September 23, we are having our school Terry Fox Run/Walk.  Le Roi Daniels School is raising "Toonies for Terry".  Please consider sending in a $2 (toonie) this week! 

Love of Reading

 We are thrilled and excited that our school has been adopted by Chapters Chinook! From September 13th to October 3rd, this store is going to fundraise on our behalf through donations done directly at the Chapters Chinook location. We’re also going to be raising funds to support our library through the direct fundraising page, located below. Please spread the work by sharing this link with family and friends.

Our school is going to receive every dollar raised to support our library and receive an additional 30% discount off books when we shop at Indigo & Chapters program donations. These funds will go long way to bringing more diverse and inclusive picture books to our classrooms.

Thursday September 9

 Tonight is virtual Meet-the-Teacher.  Please use the login information on the orange sheet sent home at the Ice Cream Social.  I will begin presenting at 6:30pm and then once again at 7:00pm for families who have siblings in other grades.  Please ensure your microphone is turned off and type any questions into the chat box.

 Hello Parents & Guardians!

What a wonderful first day of school!  

Reminders:

- please send an easy to eat snack for morning snack (cheese string, granola bar, etc) 

- Shoes: your child needs 3 different pairs of shoes: black dress shoes that stay at school, outdoor shoes/runners for morning and lunch recess and a pair of indoor runners for indoor gym class. 

- Please read through, sign and return all demographic and coloured forms sent home in backpacks/received at Ice Cream Social.  Please return by this Friday September 3.
